Trinity demolished four existing GLAs to create space for a contemporary art studio at Domremy College. This Learning Environments Australasia award-winning project offers students a bright, open-plan space to create and collaborate. The ‘Solais Sandpit’ is a prototype space developed to support and enhance the school’s vision for teaching and learning. The Sandpit transforms a traditional classroom block into an Innovative Learning Environment (ILE) housing a diversity of purposeful learning settings to enable a range of pedagogies from direct instruction to more collaborative and independent learning activities. The space is a research site for the Innovative Learning Environment and Teacher Change (ILETC) project and will help inform future design at the school and support teacher practice in transitioning to ILEs both within the school and more broadly through publication of research findings.
